This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X200-100S carries the optional -S magnet and a 100 mm trim window: an external stop screw shortens the 200 mm stroke on site to any setting from 100 mm up, so one unit can serve several jig depths. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 200 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for a 12 mm bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X200.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim guards and compact gantries. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet with a CMSE switch confirms the rod has reached the trimmed stop on a 100-200 mm extend stroke, flagging empty trays on a compact electronics feeder.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa is enough to press small circuit boards against a nest, and the short body fits inside the fixture lid where a full-length cylinder cannot.
A 3 kg vertical-lift equivalent handles pushing small aluminium bushings off a lathe arbor, with the stop screw set to match each part length.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and part-presenting; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N) if the load is heavier. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only within the 100 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Before ordering, confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions for the ACEJ12X200 replacement, since this ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke is made to order (standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm), and the -100 stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 100-200 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.
The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for position detection; without the -S code there is no magnet.
