This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-100SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-100SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-100SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-100SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X200-100SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a made-to-order 200 mm stroke (the standard maximum for this bore is 50 mm). A stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the 100 mm window, giving a usable range of 100-200 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing, and the B code gives a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. The fixed TPU bumpers at both ends only soften the ends of travel - they never hold or brake a load, and on air loss the piston drifts. ACPJ is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-100SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-100SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light molded caps or bushings off a tool, and the 100 mm window lets the operator trim ejection travel between 100 and 200 mm without changing cylinders.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod has reached the trimmed extend position, giving a PLC a cheap go/no-go signal on a 12 mm bore actuator.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa suits pressing small polymer bushings into housings, where the male rod thread accepts an I or Y knuckle for a clean push-rod interface.
Size both ways before ordering: the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while a smaller ACPJ12X100-50 covers jobs needing only half the stroke window. Remember the stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so do not use it to hold a vertical load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet (fitted here) enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order ACEJ12X200 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke by up to 100 mm, so the working range is 100-200 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 200 mm stroke is made to order since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and an M5x0.8 port - roughly 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The bumpers only soften end-of-travel; they never lock or hold a load. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
