This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X200-100 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 100-200 mm. This 12 mm bore size delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa), running on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim pick-and-place heads and tight fixture pockets. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and only decelerates the piston at stroke ends - it never locks or brakes a load, so the rod will drift if air is lost. No magnet is fitted on this version (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches). Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a sizing rule, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), which lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges small stamped or molded parts out of a jig nest, with the 100 mm window letting you tune the extend stroke from 100 to 200 mm on the machine.
About 2.8 kg of vertical lift capacity with a 2:1 margin suits pressing sensor caps or vial lids on compact benchtop automation where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
The short body cuts mounting length by roughly half versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, ideal for lightweight z-strokes on electronics assembly gantries; add the -S magnet code if CMSE / DMSE switch feedback is needed later.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest ACPJ force class: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N if your part weight grows. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so do not rely on it to hold a vertical load with air off. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot; the female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles. This model is discontinued - order the ACEJ12X200 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore uses an M5x0.8 port and a 6 mm rod with a female M3x0.5 thread. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The 200 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -100 code means a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 100 and 200 mm, but it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 200 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts. The ACPJ series is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows the DIN-standard footprint. This version has no magnet; order the -S code to enable CMSE / DMSE switches.
