This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 190-200 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X200.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it suits narrow slides and compact fixtures. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the -S code on this unit means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 33.9 N (about 3.5 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to advance small sample trays into a test station, with the 190-200 mm trim range matching shallow fixtures.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the controller confirms the rod is home before the camera cycle starts on a small-parts inspection line.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside tight drill jigs where a full-length body cannot reach the 200 mm stroke.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore sits at the light end of the range; step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N or bore 20 for 157.1 N if the load is heavier. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle and external tooling, while the fitted -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE position sensing. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load on air loss. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ12X200 replacement, since this ACP body follows the older DIN standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it gives 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, count on about 33.9 N (roughly 3.5 kg) of usable force at 0.5 MPa, or about 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.
The -10 code provides a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke to any setting between 190 and 200 mm; it never lengthens the stroke and it is not a mid-stroke lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued, so order the ACEJ12X200 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
