This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X200-20B pairs a 12 mm bore with a 200 mm stroke trimmed by a 20 mm stop-screw window, so the rod can be set anywhere in a 180-200 mm range on site. Push force is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to tooling without a knuckle.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters on a long 200 mm stroke in a tight jig or guard. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (60% of the push rating), which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick finished 2-3 kg parts off a locating pin, and the 180-200 mm adjustable reach clears deep pockets in the fixture.
The short body saves about 50% of the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, letting a 200 mm stroke fit inside a benchtop instrument housing; the male rod thread mounts the sample tray directly.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa folds small flaps at up to 200 mm reach, with the 20 mm window tuned to the carton height.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and part-presenting; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) for roughly 78% more force, or down only if the load is under about 34 N. The 20 mm window trims the extend stroke between 180 and 200 mm, but the stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. This unit has no magnet (no S code), so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted; order the -S variant if sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings are available. Since ACPJ is discontinued, specify the ACEJ12X200 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the push force is 56.5 N and the pull 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it is 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the fluid is air filtered to 40 um. The 200 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke on site to any length between 180 and 200 mm, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. It is an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
