This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-20S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, this discontinued ACPJ12X200-20S runs a 12 mm bore over a 200 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 20 mm, giving a usable extend range of 180-200 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The 200 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim gantries and guarded stations. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signals. As a rule of thumb, plan for about 34 N (0.6 x 56.5 N) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-20S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the trimmed 180-200 mm extend position before the tester probes the board.
About 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa slides lightweight vial racks along a short track inside a compact enclosure.
The 200 mm reach opens a narrow guard door where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not fit behind the frame.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest ACPJ size: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for bore 16 and 157.1 N for bore 20, so step up a bore if your part weight or clamp force is near the limit. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only within the 20 mm window; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and this unit carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X200 instead, since ACPJ is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke is a made-to-order length (bore 12 standard tops out at 50 mm) and the -20 stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 20 mm, so the working range is 180-200 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke detection. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
