This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This AirTAC ACPJ12X200-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm extend stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 170-200 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures, slide clamps and instrument gantries. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the male rod thread (B code) with the optional -S magnet fitted lets CMSE / DMSE switches report position. As a rule of thumb, plan for about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and 170-200 mm adjustable reach eject sample trays from compact analytical enclosures where a full-length profile cylinder cannot fit.
Male rod thread plus the fitted -S magnet driving CMSE switches gives position feedback for small-part insertion heads on electronics assembly gantries.
The 200 mm stroke with a 30 mm trim window opens and closes light diverting gates on small carton lines, with the TPU bumper softening each end of travel.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest ACPJ size: step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) if your clamp needs more force, or stay at 12 mm for light locating and eject tasks. The 30 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This unit ships with the -S magnet and male rod thread; PT ports, FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting, and 30-500 mm/s speed round out the spec. Order ACEJ12X200 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
Bore 12 mm, stroke 200 mm (made-to-order, above the 50 mm standard for this bore), 30 mm adjustment window. Push 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical max 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, M5x0.8 port, rod 6 mm with male thread, fixed TPU bumpers, -S magnet fitted for CMSE / DMSE switches. Discontinued - replace with ACEJ12X200.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 30 mm, so the rod travels anywhere in the 170-200 mm window; it cannot lengthen travel past the ordered 200 mm and it does not hold a load if air pressure drops. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current-production successor is ACEJ12X200 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
