This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X200-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 170-200 mm. Air filtered to 40 um drives it at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), with speeds of 30-500 mm/s and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, so in practice plan on roughly 34 N of real work, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The 200 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length because bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the rod end carries a female M3x0.5 thread. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 170-200 mm adjustable reach and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit light clamping of small aluminium brackets during drilling or deburring.
A 200 mm stroke trims up to 30 mm on site, letting the rod nudge underweight vials or caps off a narrow belt line without redesigning the guard.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore raises microplate trays and sensor carriers in benchtop testers.
Size up if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. Downsize only for light indexing, since the 12 mm bore tops out at 11.5 kgf theoretical at 1.0 MPa. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switches, because this unit has no magnet fitted. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X200 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 30 mm adjustment window shortens the 200 mm extend stroke to as little as 170 mm via the external stop screw.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options. Sensors need the optional -S magnet code (CMSE / DMSE switches); this model without the S code has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted. The unit is discontinued - the ACEJ12X200 is the current drop-in, so verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
