This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-40B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-40B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-40B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-40B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder from AirTAC's ACPJ line pairs a 12 mm bore with a 200 mm stroke and a 40 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 160-200 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ACEJ12X200 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim fixtures and guard-mounted tooling. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the B code gives a male rod thread with an M5x0.8 port. For sizing, treat about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kg vertical equivalent) as the practical working force at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. No magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted unless the -S magnet code is ordered.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-40B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X200-40B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped clips or machined pins off a nest, and the 160-200 mm adjustable range lets the setter dial the throw without re-plumbing.
With about 3.4 kg of practical vertical capacity at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore raises vials or microplates in narrow analyser frames where a full-length body would not fit.
The male-thread rod (B code) takes a custom pad to press tabs or seals, with the 40 mm stop window holding the press point consistent across a 200 mm approach.
At 12 mm bore you get 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if the load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N) in the same family. The 40 mm window only shortens the extend stroke from 200 mm - it never extends it, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and CMSE / DMSE switches work only when the optional -S magnet is specified. Since ACPJ is discontinued, plan the swap to ACEJ12X200 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first, because the ACP follows a DIN-standard footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa that becomes 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code sets a 40 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 200 mm extend stroke down to 160 mm minimum. The 200 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke.
This version has no magnet fitted, so no switch can work; order the optional -S magnet code to enable CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the drop-in successor is the ACEJ12X200 - same bore, stroke and force class in the current ISO 21287 range. Confirm the mounting dimensions against the DIN-standard ACP footprint before swapping, and check the M5x0.8 port and FA/FB or LB mounting options on the new unit.
