This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-40S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-40S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-40S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-40S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 160-200 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body. As a rule of thumb, plan for roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X200 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP follows the DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-40S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-40S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects slide trays or microplate racks from a compact analyzer chassis, with the 160-200 mm trim covering tray variants.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa seats dowels or bearings into plastic housings on an electronics assembly bench where space is tight.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches confirm open/closed on a slim interlock gate in a packaging line, trimming stroke between 160 and 200 mm.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for bore 16 and 157.1 N for bore 20. If your load needs more than about 34 N of usable force, step up a bore. The 40 mm window suits jigs where the final position varies between 160 and 200 mm; the stop is a mechanical end stop only, so on air loss the piston drifts - it is not a load-holding lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X200 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code gives a 40 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke to any value from 160 to 200 mm. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 200 mm stroke is made to order, since bore 12 standard tops out at 50 mm.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short body. Because ACP follows the DIN standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. FA/FB flange and LB foot options carry over, and the -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches is ordered the same way.
