This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-40 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-40 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-40 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-40 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 40 mm on site, giving a usable range of 160-200 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim pick-and-place heads and test rigs where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and simply decelerates the piston; it never locks or brakes a load, and on air loss the piston still drifts. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kg of force) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting around 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. There is no magnet fitted on this version; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. Running spec: 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, -20 to +70 C.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-40 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-40 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects vials or slides from a fixture tray, and the 40 mm window lets technicians trim the extend stroke between 160 and 200 mm to match tray depth.
A light 3.4 kg-class pressing force (about 34 N usable at 0.5 MPa) seats connectors on circuit boards, with the short body fitting inside a compact test gantry.
The 200 mm reach folds flaps on small cartons at the end of a packaging line, and the made-to-order stroke covers the long reach the standard 50 mm bore-12 build cannot.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore suits light clamping and sensing stations; step down is not available below 12 mm, while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if you need more force. The 40 mm window only shortens the extend stroke within 160-200 mm - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so do not rely on it to hold a load against gravity. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since this model is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X200 as the drop-in successor and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP series was built to a DIN standard.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code gives a 40 mm adjustment window, so the 200 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to anywhere in a 160-200 mm range with the stop screw. The 200 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (standard maximum is 50 mm) and is made to order. The model is discontinued - the ACEJ12X200 is the current replacement.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends - about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This version has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted; ordering the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X200 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
