This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X200-50SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 200 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 150-200 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim gantries and guarded stations. At 0.5 MPa, plan for about 34 N of real work (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) and fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches make it easy to drop into existing fixtures. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X200 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm rod position, while the 150-200 mm adjustable range lets you tune the eject stroke on small plastic housings without re-machining the fixture.
With about 34 N of practical force at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore holds light aluminium brackets during a screwdriving or riveting step inside a tight jig where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
The long 200 mm made-to-order stroke suits lowering a probe or sensor head about 2.9 kg vertically onto a test piece, with the stop screw setting the exact lower limit per product variant.
At 12 mm bore you are at the bottom of the ACPJ range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If the load stalls, step up to 16 mm (100.5 N push) or 20 mm (157.1 N push) in the same compact envelope. The 50 mm adjustment window suits stations where the final position is tuned on site; remember the stop screw is an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. Because this model is discontinued, order ACEJ12X200 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it gives 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. The 200 mm stroke is a made-to-order size, since the standard maximum for this bore is 50 mm.
The -50 code is a 50 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke on site, so the effective range is 150-200 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 200 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - on air loss the piston still drifts. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X200 (same bore, stroke and force class), so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
