This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X200-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X200-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X200-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 200mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X200-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X200-50 is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 200 mm stroke, trimmed on site by a stop screw within a 50 mm window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 150 to 200 mm. Air filtered to 40 um drives it across 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), and at 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps the short ISO 21287-class footprint, which saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
This 200 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for the 12 mm bore, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push figure), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The fixed TPU bumper at both ends only decelerates the piston at the ends; it never locks or holds a load, so on air loss the rod still drifts. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X200-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X200-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×200 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 150-200 mm adjustable extend range lets technicians dial in the exact clamp position on thin PCB test rigs, with 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light hold-down work.
A 200 mm reach clears deep sample trays in analytical lab automation; the made-to-order stroke suits low-volume lab machines that standard 50 mm-stroke bores cannot cover.
At 30-500 mm/s the rod diverts tiny components on electronics conveyor lanes, and the compact short body fits the tight guard space beside the lane where a full-length profile cylinder will not.
At 0.5 MPa this bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, so size up if your jig needs more: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. The 50 mm adjustment window suits fixtures where the final extend position is tuned after installation, but remember the stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock. Mount with FA/FB flange or LB foot hardware on the ISO 21287 face. The magnet is the optional -S code; this unit has none, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted. Order the ACEJ12X200 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore uses an M5x0.8 port (PT), a 6 mm rod with female M3x0.5 thread, runs 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 200 mm stroke is non-standard and made to order.
The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 200 mm extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 150-200 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - it cannot lengthen the stroke past 200 mm and it does not hold a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X200 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard. If you need position sensing, order the -S version to get the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
