This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X25-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X25-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X25-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X25-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X25-10B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 25 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 15-25 mm on site. This 12 mm bore size delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps the short ISO 21287-class footprint, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder in tight jigs and guards.
Practical sizing: plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which corresponds to lifting roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The B code gives a male 6 mm rod with an M3x0.5 external thread, and the M5x0.8 ports suit small air lines. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping from the DIN-standard ACP body.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X25-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X25-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims between 15 and 25 mm to clamp small PCB fixtures or watch-part jigs with about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa.
The short body fits inside a dial-table guard where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would overhang by half its length.
Male M3x0.5 rod thread drives a small pusher plate to index 1-2 kg sample trays in test benches at 30-500 mm/s.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) for roughly 78% more force, or drop to a smaller actuator if 42.4 N pull is already generous. The -10 window only shortens the extend stroke and acts as an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this unit has no S code, so no sensor can be fitted. Order the ACEJ12X25 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice budget about 34 N of work, which lifts roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the extend stroke is adjustable from 15 to 25 mm via the 10 mm stop window.
It is a short ISO 21287-class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, threaded aluminium covers, a fixed TPU bumper at each end and an S45C hard-chrome rod; the body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Switches need the optional -S magnet code with CMSE / DMSE sensors; without -S there is no magnet. This model is discontinued, so order the ACEJ12X25 replacement and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
