This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X25-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X25-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X25-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X25-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X25-10 uses a 12 mm bore and a 25 mm base stroke that a stop screw trims by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 15-25 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X25.
For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating, which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 thread, M5x0.8 ports, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and a speed range of 30-500 mm/s. No magnet is fitted on this version; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ12X25.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X25-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X25-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 15-25 mm trimmed stroke and 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa suit small fixture clamps on electronics assembly benches where space is tight.
With the optional -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the cylinder flags end-of-stroke when pushing tiny components off a pick station.
The 12 mm bore lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with margin, enough to raise lightweight gates or shields on test rigs.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) for roughly double the force, or down to a smaller fixed-stroke ACP if no stroke trimming is needed. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects specify the ACEJ12X25, the current drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N. Theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C. Plan on about 34 N (3.5 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa.
The -10 code sets a 10 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 25 mm extend stroke to any value from 15 to 25 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. This model is discontinued - the ACEJ12X25 (ISO 21287) is the current drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm its mounting dimensions before swapping.
