This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X25-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X25-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X25-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X25-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X25-30B is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore, a 25 mm stroke and a 30 mm adjustment window. An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within that window, so the usable range is 0-25 mm without changing the cylinder. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits shallow jigs and guard brackets. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X25.
The male rod thread (B code) carries a 6 mm rod with an M6x1.0-class male end, and the M5x0.8 ports take PT fittings. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. No magnet is fitted on this version; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch positions. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ12X25.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X25-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X25-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges finished clips or bushings off a mold face, and the 30 mm adjustment window lets the operator dial the extend stroke down to the exact part height.
With the optional -S magnet and a DMSE switch, the 25 mm stroke confirms gate-open position inside a guard where a full-length cylinder cannot fit.
About 2.9 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin seats microplate lids or vial caps gently, with the male rod thread taking a custom press pad.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). If 56.5 N is generous for the job, this size keeps the envelope minimal. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, specify the ACEJ12X25 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s. For real work, plan on about 34 N at 0.5 MPa, roughly 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.
The -30 code is a 30 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 25 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 0-25 mm. It is an end stop, not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ12X25-30B is discontinued; the ACEJ12X25 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
