This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X25-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X25-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X25-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X25-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X25-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, built on the DIN-standard short-body format: a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome piston rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length cylinder cannot reach.
The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 25 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 0-25 mm without changing the cylinder. Plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X25-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X25-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small stamped clips or pins off a die face, and the 0-25 mm trimmed stroke keeps the tooling envelope minimal.
With a 2:1 margin the rod lifts about 3 kg vertically, so it can raise a small vial rack into a dispensing head; the stop screw dials the lift height exactly.
The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside guarded test fixtures where the 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa holds light components.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N, or drop to nothing smaller since 12 mm is the entry size. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - it shortens the extend stroke but does not hold a load if air is lost. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the rod end here is a female M3x0.5 thread. This unit has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches). Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X25 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 footprint first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 25 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-25 mm. It is double acting, runs at 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air, and the fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the piston at both ends.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production. The current drop-in is the ACEJ12X25 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 format. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. If you need position sensing, order the -S version so the magnet is fitted for CMSE / DMSE switches.
