This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X30-10S pairs a 12 mm bore with a 30 mm stroke and a 10 mm trim window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site anywhere in the 20-30 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Because the -S code is in this model, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped straight on for end-of-stroke signals. Plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which lifts around 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X30-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims its 30 mm extend stroke down to 20 mm with the stop screw to nudge machined aluminium blanks off a jig plate, using the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa.
With the fitted magnet driving CMSE or DMSE switches, a test bench confirms the clamp reached its trimmed stroke before the probe cycle starts.
The short body fits inside a benchtop enclosure where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, pressing sensor caps with about 3 kg of vertical lift margin.
Size the load first: if your fixture needs more than about 34 N of working force at 0.5 MPa, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push); if 56.5 N is generous, this 12 mm bore keeps the envelope smallest. The 10 mm window suits stations where the part height varies slightly and the extend stroke must be trimmed without changing cylinders. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. For new builds, order the ACEJ12X30 instead, since this ACPJ version is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a 12 mm bore, 30 mm stroke double acting cylinder with a 10 mm adjustable window (usable extend stroke 20-30 mm), M5x0.8 ports, a 6 mm rod with female M3x0.5 thread, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production. The current drop-in is the ACEJ12X30, made by swapping the P for an E: same 12 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 compact format. Because the ACPJ was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. If you also need position sensing on the replacement, order the -S code so the optional magnet is fitted for CMSE / DMSE switches.
