This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X30-10SB is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and 30 mm stroke. Air drives the rod in both directions, and the -10 stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 20-30 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N and 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Because the -S magnet is fitted on this model, CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly for end-of-stroke sensing. The rod end carries a male thread (B code) and the air port is M5x0.8. As a working rule, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting around 2 kg vertically with margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X30-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip tiny molded clips or pins off a core, and the 20-30 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector footprint tight inside the tool.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, a PLC confirms the gate has fully retracted before the next pallet is released, at cycle speeds up to 500 mm/s.
Around 2 kg of vertical lift equivalent with margin suits holding PCB trays or connector housings in test rigs where the short body must fit under a low gantry.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest size in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm bore. Step up a bore if your load exceeds about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa. The 30 mm stroke sits well inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles or direct tooling, FA/FB flange or LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X30 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, count on about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, roughly 2 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.
The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 30 mm extend stroke to any setting between 20 and 30 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
