This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X30-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: air drives the piston both out and back, and the -10 code adds a 10 mm stop-screw window that trims the 30 mm extend stroke down to as little as 20 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N of real work (about 0.6 of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting roughly 2 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, small gantries and guarded stations. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. This unit has no magnet (the -S code is the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the rod end is female M3x0.5 with an M5x0.8 port.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small pressed inserts or machined pins out of a drilling jig, and the 20-30 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector travel exact.
A short stop gate on a benchtop conveyor diverter, where the 50%-shorter body fits beside the guide rail and the 42.4 N pull retracts the gate clear of the part path.
Light clamping of vials or coupon samples at about 34 N of usable force, with the stop screw set so the platen never over-travels into delicate glassware.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) for roughly double the force, or drop to a direct ACEJ12X30 if you want the current-production equivalent. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston can still drift, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Mounting options are FA/FB flange and LB foot, and if you need position sensing, order the -S variant with the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. This ACPJ is discontinued; the ACEJ12X30 is the drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the bore-12 port is M5x0.8 with a female M3x0.5 rod thread.
The -10 code is a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 30 mm extend stroke to any setting between 20 and 30 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 30 mm, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
