This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ12X30-30B uses a 12 mm bore and a 30 mm base stroke that an external stop screw trims anywhere in a 30 mm window, giving a usable extend range of 0-30 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.
Plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically - halve that to around 1.5 kg if you want a 2:1 margin on a vertical lift. The male rod thread (B code) takes an M3x0.5 knuckle, the port is M5x0.8, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP family was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X30-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects finished watch or connector pins from a machining nest, with the 0-30 mm trim tuned to the exact nest depth and 56.5 N enough for 5 g parts.
Presses a snap-fit battery cover on a PCB fixture; the stop screw sets a repeatable 12 mm extend so the male M3x0.5 rod lands in the same spot each cycle.
Clamps a roll of labels against a guide on a packaging head, where the compact body fits inside the guard and about 34 N of usable force holds the web without crushing it.
For light clamping and positioning at 0.5 MPa, 56.5 N push covers small parts and low-force fixtures; step down is not available below 12 mm in this family, while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N if the load grows. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. If you need position sensing, the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this B-coded unit has no magnet fitted. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. Order the ACEJ12X30 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Bore 12 mm, stroke 30 mm with a 30 mm adjustment window (0-30 mm usable extend), rod 6 mm with male M3x0.5 thread, M5x0.8 port, speed 30-500 mm/s, pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
An external stop screw shortens the 30 mm extend stroke by up to 30 mm, so you can set any extend length from 0 to 30 mm on site; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
