This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X30-30S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and a 30 mm trim window, so an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere in a 0-30 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body.
Because the ISO 21287-class short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, it slots into slim fixtures, small guarding and compact pick stations. Plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the S45C rod is hard-chromed with an M3x0.5 female thread, and the port is M5x0.8. This model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X30-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet and CMSE switch confirm end position on 0-30 mm trimmed pushes of small trays, with the 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa sized for lightweight carriers.
A 12 mm bore nudges finished connectors or pins off small cavities; the stop screw trims the eject stroke so delicate parts clear without overtravel.
About 1.7 kg vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin suits raising lightweight probe heads in compact analytical instruments where body length is critical.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force step in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore, so step up if your part weight or clamp force is marginal. The 30 mm window covers fine trim on short moves; the stop is a mechanical end stop only, never a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches round out the spec. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X30 and verify ISO 21287 hole patterns first.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 30 mm extend stroke anywhere within 0-30 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift on air loss. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and FA/FB or LB hole patterns before swapping. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches work on it; the ACEJ offers the same option.
