This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X30-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X30-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X30-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X30-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This AirTAC ACPJ12X30-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 30 mm stroke anywhere within the ordered 30 mm window, so the usable range is 0-30 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, plan for roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, test rigs and small gantries. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X30-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X30-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits seating small bearings, pins or terminals in electronics assembly, with the stop screw setting exact depth within the 0-30 mm range.
A 30 mm stroke trimmed on site moves small guards or chutes on packaging machines where the short body fits beside the guard rail.
Roughly 1.7 kg of vertical lift capacity with margin handles pushing sample trays or clamping light fixtures on automated test benches.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your jig needs, the bore 12 is already the smallest in the family; if your load needs more, step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N push at the same pressure. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add an external stop if position must be held. Rod end here is female M3x0.5 with a PT port thread; FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. This unit has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches). Order the ACEJ12X30 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 0 to 30 mm with the stop screw. It runs double acting at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and an M5x0.8 port. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ12X30 is the current drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
