This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X35-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X35-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X35-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X35-10B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 35 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 25-35 mm on site. In the 12 mm bore class it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle and tooling attachments, and the M5x0.8 ports keep the plumbing small. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Practically, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, connectors or sensor brackets. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35, a drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP family follows a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X35-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X35-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 25-35 mm trimmed stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa gently eject small connectors from test nests, with the male rod thread taking a custom pusher tip.
A 10 mm adjustment window lets the setter dial the pin travel between 25 and 35 mm without shimming, and the compact body fits shallow mold plates.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift at a 2:1 margin, the cylinder raises microplate carriers inside tight gantry frames where a profile cylinder would not fit.
Size the load first: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light ejection and clamping; if you need more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure, while a fixed-stroke ACP12X35 covers jobs that never need trimming. The 10 mm adjuster shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. No magnet is fitted on this version (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the male rod thread pairs with I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ12X35 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 35 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to any length from 25 to 35 mm. It runs double acting on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), with a speed range of 30-500 mm/s and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
Order the ACEJ12X35: swap the P for an E and you get the current-production ISO 21287 cylinder in the same 12 mm bore, 35 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP family is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and remember the magnet is the optional -S code on both families - without it no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted.
