This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X35-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X35-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X35-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X35-10S carries a 12 mm bore and 35 mm stroke trimmed by a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the working range is 25-35 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push. The hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke sensing. In practice, plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small fixture clamps or light part ejection. Note the stop screw trims the extend stroke only; it is not a mid-stroke lock, and the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X35 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X35-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X35-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa and 25-35 mm adjustable range suit clamping small brackets or PCB fixtures on electronics assembly benches.
With about 2.9 kg vertical lift at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore ejects small stamped or molded parts from shallow nests on a rotary indexing table.
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE / DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a compact pick slide inside a tight machine guard.
For this force class, 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping and eject tasks; step down is not available in the ACPJ range (12 mm is the smallest bore), while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure if you need more margin. The 10 mm window shortens the 35 mm extend stroke on site but never lengthens it past 35 mm. Female M3x0.5 rod thread and PT ports; FA flange or LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. The -S magnet is fitted on this model for CMSE / DMSE switches. Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X35 as the current-production equivalent and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 25-35 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 35 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding lock - the piston drifts if air is lost. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s.
Yes - this model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches can be mounted on the body for end-of-stroke signals. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
