This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X35-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X35-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X35-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X35-30 runs a 12 mm bore over a 35 mm base stroke and delivers 56.5 N of push force at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N at 0.7 MPa). An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the 30 mm window, giving a usable range of 5-35 mm on site. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X35 in the ISO 21287 family.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 thread. As a planning figure, count on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) rather than the full rating. This unit has no magnet fitted; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X35-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X35-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to nudge small machined or moulded parts off a locating pin, and the 5-35 mm trimmed stroke keeps the throw exact.
With the optional -S magnet and a CMSE switch, end-of-stroke confirmation fits inside tight electronic test benches where space is scarce.
About 3 kg of vertical lift equivalent at 0.5 MPa suits seating small terminals or plugs in electronics assembly, with the stop screw setting the press depth.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force step in the range: 56.5 N push / 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure if the load needs more headroom. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock the rod, so on air loss the piston can still drift. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X35 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed from the full 35 mm down to 5 mm with the external stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end, an M5x0.8 port, FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting, and a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ12X35 is the current drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
