This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X35-40S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X35-40S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X35-40S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35-40S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X35-40S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and 35 mm stroke. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.
The -40 code sets a 40 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 35 mm on site, and fixed TPU bumpers pad both ends. Because the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa, plan on roughly 34 N of usable work (about 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin). The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X35 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X35-40S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X35-40S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet plus a CMSE switch confirms end-of-stroke on small assembly fixtures, while the 40 mm window lets technicians trim the 35 mm extend stroke without changing cylinders.
With a body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the 12 mm bore slides under low-clearance guards to push 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa - enough to eject lightweight trays from pick-and-place nests.
A stop screw set anywhere in the 0-35 mm range clamps aluminium brackets in CNC secondary operations; fixed TPU bumpers soften both ends at speeds from 30 to 500 mm/s.
Size against neighbours: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N falls short, while stepping down is not possible below 12 mm in this family. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet works with CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X35 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code is a 40 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 0 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock - on air loss the piston still drifts. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s.
No - the ACPJ12X35-40S is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X35, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The replacement keeps the M5x0.8 port, 6 mm rod with M3x0.5 female thread, FA/FB flange and LB foot options, and the -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches.
