About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X40-30B
The ACPJ12X40-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a 12 mm bore, a 40 mm base stroke and a 30 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the working stroke anywhere in a 10-40 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim jigs and guarded stations a full-length body cannot reach.
In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push) - enough to lift about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (the B code), fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and an M5x0.8 port. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X40, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap. The magnet is not fitted here - order the -S version if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

The -30 window suits stations where the same cylinder must serve several stroke settings between 10 and 40 mm. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, and on air loss the piston still drifts. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face; the male rod thread (B) takes an external knuckle. Since this unit is discontinued, spec the ACEJ12X40 as the replacement and verify mounting dimensions against the ISO 21287 datasheet.
