This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-10B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 35-45 mm. At the 12 mm bore it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guard brackets. Note that the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds a load.
This unit is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The rod end is male thread (the B code) on a 6 mm S45C hard-chrome rod, the port is M5x0.8, and TPU bumpers are fixed at both ends. No magnet is fitted on this code; the optional -S version adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (0.6 x 56.5 N) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 35-45 mm adjustable extend range lets a moulder fine-trim the ejector throw for shallow cavities, with 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough to release light nylon or POM parts.
With the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, the trimmed 35-45 mm stroke gives end-of-travel confirmation in tight gantry slots where a full-length body will not fit.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa (roughly a 2.9 kg vertical lift with margin) suits capping, dabbing or pressing microplate seals, and the male rod thread accepts small knuckles.
Bore 12 is the smallest in the family: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your jig, step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N push at the same pressure. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm max standard stroke for this bore, so it is a catalogue item. The 10 mm window means the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 35 to 45 mm on site - it shortens the stroke only, never lengthens it past 45 mm. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts and the male rod thread to your linkage, and remember the end stop is not a mid-stroke lock. Order the ACEJ12X45 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 45 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to anywhere between 35 and 45 mm with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8.
It is a short ISO 21287-class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting options. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45 (P changed to E), in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard. The magnet is only present when the optional -S code is ordered.
