This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 35-45 mm. Its 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length cylinder cannot reach.
Plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small caps, sensors or lightweight carriers. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and the -S magnet this model includes lets CMSE or DMSE switches report position. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X45, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet and a CMSE switch confirm the rod has reached the trimmed 35-45 mm extend position before the next pick-and-place cycle starts at up to 500 mm/s.
About 34 N of practical push at 0.5 MPa holds PCB trays or connector covers firmly without marking, and the 10 mm window dials the clamp point in on site.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside benchtop analyser frames where the 2.9 kg vertical lift class is sufficient.
Size up if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N in the same compact family. Size down only if your stroke fits the 12 mm bore's 50 mm maximum standard stroke. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts and I/Y rod knuckles to the ISO 21287 face, and order CMSE or DMSE switches only because this unit carries the optional -S magnet. For new builds, specify the ACEJ12X45 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore uses an M5x0.8 port and a 6 mm rod with a female M3x0.5 thread. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the stroke is adjustable within a 10 mm window (35-45 mm).
No - the ACPJ12X45-10S is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45, which matches the same 12 mm bore, 45 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 family. Because the ACP was built to a DIN-standard compact format, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and re-order any CMSE or DMSE switches for the replacement.
