This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder from AirTAC's ACPJ line carries a 12 mm bore with a 45 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 10 mm, giving a usable extend range of 35-45 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N and 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The -S code on this unit means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. The B code gives a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod, and the air port is M5x0.8.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim test fixtures and compact pick stations. As a planning figure, about 34 N of the push force is realistic working output at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that this ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X45 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N working push at 0.5 MPa ejects microplate samples or test tubes from a fixture nest, and the 35-45 mm trimmed stroke matches shallow drawer depth.
With the fitted magnet driving a CMSE switch, the controller confirms the 45 mm extend before a 12 mm-bore press of 56.5 N seats a connector.
The male rod thread on the 6 mm rod takes a knuckle to clamp small watch or camera components, with the stop screw dialing the clamp travel between 35 and 45 mm.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force step in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm. If your part weight exceeds about 1.7 kg vertical lift with margin, step up a bore. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order length is needed. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only and acts as an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order ACEJ12X45 and verify the mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s.
The -10 code is a 10 mm window: a stop screw at the head shortens the 45 mm extend stroke on site, so the rod can be set anywhere from 35 to 45 mm. It is a mechanical end stop for the extend direction only and never holds a load if air is lost. Because this unit carries the optional -S magnet, CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be fitted. The ACPJ family is discontinued; ACEJ12X45 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping.
