This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X45-30S carries a 12 mm bore, a 45 mm stroke and a 30 mm trim window, so an external stop screw lets you set any usable extend length from 15 to 45 mm on site. Air pushes the rod out at 56.5 N and pulls it back at 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod keep the short ISO 21287-class footprint, which saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
Because the -S code is ordered, the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke signalling. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, chutes or sensor carriages. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet drives a CMSE switch to confirm each 15-45 mm push-off of a finished part from a nest, with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa ample for lightweight components.
The 30 mm adjustment window lets a technician dial the extend stroke between 15 and 45 mm to match different tray pitches without changing the cylinder.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa secures thin PCBs or small brackets in a jig where the short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, is the only actuator that fits.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure, or drop to a direct-acting mini actuator if even 56.5 N is more than the job needs. The 30 mm window trims the 45 mm extend stroke down to 15 mm minimum; it is a mechanical end stop only, so on air loss the piston still drifts and it must never be relied on to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the ACEJ12X45 instead - same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 45 mm stroke trimmed by a 30 mm window (usable 15-45 mm), an M5x0.8 port, a female M3x0.5 rod thread, a 6 mm rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi) and a -20 to +70 C temperature range.
Order the ACEJ12X45, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 12 mm bore, 45 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP series followed a DIN-standard footprint, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. The ACEJ also carries the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches, and FA/FB flange, LB foot and I/Y knuckle accessories bolt to its standard face.
