This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 15-45 mm on site. Air at 0.5 MPa delivers 56.5 N on extend and 42.4 N on retract, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be fitted for end-of-stroke sensing, and the B code gives a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod. Plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) as the practical working force at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N extend force at 0.5 MPa is enough to push light molded caps off a core pin, and the 15-45 mm adjustable range lets the molder trim the eject position without changing the cylinder.
With the fitted -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm both end positions of the 45 mm stroke, and the short body fits under a bench-top guard where space is minimal.
About 34 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa holds a small circuit board against a locating stop during a screw-driving or test step, with the stop screw set to the exact clamp height.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push, or down is not available since 12 mm is the base size. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The 30 mm adjustment window suits fixtures where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning; remember the stop only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load if air is lost. Mounting options are FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the male rod thread (B) pairs with I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ12X45 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the 45 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to anywhere between 15 and 45 mm with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends.
No - the ACPJ is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP follows the DIN standard. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the M5x0.8 ports suit small manifolds, and this unit carries the optional -S magnet so CMSE / DMSE switches can be added.
