This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable range of 15-45 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
A rule of thumb for real work: plan on about 34 N (roughly 60% of the push rating) at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically - and halve that for a 2:1 margin on a real part. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports. This model carries no magnet, so position switches cannot be fitted; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X45, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 15-45 mm adjustable range trims the eject stroke to clear shallow cavities, and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough for light nylon or POM parts.
The short body fits inside tight fixture frames, and about 34 N of usable push holds PCBs or small housings against a nest during probe testing.
Speeds of 30-500 mm/s let the 12 mm bore index microplates or vials gently, with the stop screw set to a repeatable short stroke.
Size the bore both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the next size down does not exist in this family (12 mm is the smallest), so trim the pressure instead; if you need more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Keep in mind the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod will still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread takes I/Y knuckles. Order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE sensing. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X45, the current replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8 with a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The -30 code means the 45 mm stroke can be shortened by up to 30 mm, so the extend stroke is adjustable anywhere in a 15-45 mm window.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting on the standard face. The ACPJ family is no longer in production: the current drop-in is ACEJ12X45 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard. If you need position sensing, order the -S version with the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
