About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-40B
The ACPJ12X45-40B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 5-45 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg of thrust) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X45, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was built to a DIN-standard footprint. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and a male rod thread (the B code) on a 6 mm rod. The magnet is not fitted here; order the optional -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s.
