This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-50B is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder from AirTAC's DIN-standard ACP family, now discontinued. Its 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N of push and 42.4 N of pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The -50 code sets a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 45 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range runs from 0 to 45 mm without changing cylinders. The B code specifies a male rod thread instead of the standard female version.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs, guards and gantries. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. In practical terms the 56.5 N push supports roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X45, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears small stamped clips and terminals off a die face, while the 0-45 mm adjustable range lets the setter dial the exact eject length per tool.
With about 34 N of usable working force and a male rod thread for knuckle links, the 12 mm bore holds light PCB or sensor housings inside a tight test nest.
The short body fits under guard rails where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder will not, retracting a stop pin between 30-500 mm/s cycles.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest ACPJ size: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm bore, so step up if your fixture needs more than about 34 N of working force. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order tooling is required. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle and bracket attachments; FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the same face. No magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be used; order the -S variant if CMSE / DMSE sensing is planned. Since ACPJ is discontinued, specify ACEJ12X45 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on about 34 N (0.6 of the push rating) for real work, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed range 30-500 mm/s.
The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 45 mm extend stroke on site to any length from 0 to 45 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X45 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
