This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X45-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X45-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X45-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X45-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 45 mm stroke on site within the ordered 50 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-45 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper at both ends decelerates the piston, and the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X45, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The optional -S code adds the magnet needed for CMSE / DMSE switches; without it no sensor can be mounted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X45-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X45-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick tiny molded clips or pins off a mold face, and the 0-45 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject distance to the part.
Mounted under a narrow conveyor frame, the short body fits where a full-length cylinder cannot, and with the optional -S magnet a CMSE switch confirms the stop is extended.
The 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa retracts a light probe or sealing pad between dosing cycles at 30-500 mm/s, with the TPU bumper softening each end of travel.
Choose this bore when your load needs up to about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) for heavier work or down to nothing smaller - 12 mm is the smallest ACPJ bore. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. Order the -S variant if you need position sensing with CMSE / DMSE switches, and pick FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting to match your fixture. Since this model is discontinued, spec the ACEJ12X45 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore has a 6 mm rod with an M3x0.5 female thread, an M5x0.8 port, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s and a 50 mm maximum standard stroke.
The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 45 mm extend stroke on site, so you can set any usable stroke from 0 to 45 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ12X45-50 is discontinued; the ACEJ12X45 is the current-production drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
