This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X50-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X50-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S

A double acting adjustable-stroke compact cylinder, the ACPJ12X50-10S works on a 12 mm bore with a 50 mm stroke and delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa). The -10 code adds a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere between 40 and 50 mm on site, so one cylinder can be tuned to several jig positions without re-plumbing. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.

This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling. The hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s across 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). For sizing, treat about 34 N (roughly 0.6 of the push force) as the usable working effort at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X50, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejection from machining fixtures

The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick finished pins or bushings off a CNC fixture, and the 40-50 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector from fouling the tool path.

sensors

Position-flagged slide checks on assembly stations

Because the -S magnet is fitted, a CMSE or DMSE switch confirms the 50 mm (or trimmed) extend position on a rotary indexing table without adding an external sensor bracket.

compress

Light hold-down of PCB or connector lids

About 34 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa presses test lids and cover plates closed on electronics fixtures where heavier 16 mm bores would mark the part.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S with the ACEJ12X50-10S

At 12 mm this is the smallest bore in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping, sensing probes and small part ejection. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure. The 10 mm window lets the extend stroke be shortened but never lengthened past 50 mm, and the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet on this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the ACEJ12X50, the current replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X50-10S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-10S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The bore is 12 mm with a 6 mm rod, the port is M5x0.8, the rod end is female M3x0.5, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 40 to 50 mm.

An external stop screw mechanically limits the extend stroke within the ordered 10 mm window - it shortens the stroke only, never extends it past 50 mm, and it is not a mid-stroke lock or load brake. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the piston at both ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
