This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X50-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X50-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and a stop screw trims the 50 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 20-50 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
The -30S code means the optional magnet is fitted on this unit, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. The S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a female M3x0.5 thread and the ports are M5x0.8. For planning, treat about 0.6 of the push force as real work at 0.5 MPa - roughly 34 N, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X50, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X50-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X50-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×50 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 20-50 mm adjustable range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudge clips, pins or stamped parts off a nest, with the stop screw set to the exact ejection distance.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the 12 mm bore has reached the trimmed extend position before a leak or functional test starts.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa seats connectors or snaps small covers, and the short body fits inside a benchtop fixture frame where a longer cylinder will not.
Size this bore when your load needs under about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa; step up to a 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) if you are near the limit, or down to nothing smaller since 12 mm is the smallest in the family. The 30 mm window suits fixtures where the final position is tuned on site - remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus the fitted magnet for CMSE/DMSE switches make fixture integration simple. Order ACEJ12X50 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8 with a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The stop screw trims the 50 mm stroke within a 30 mm window, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is ACEJ12X50, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP series is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before ordering the swap.
