This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X50-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X50-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X50-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 code gives a 30 mm stop-screw window, so the 50 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere down to 20 mm on site. This 12 mm bore unit pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s, and carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. The B code specifies a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod, with a PT port thread.
Its ISO 21287 short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod for long service. Note the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X50 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. At 0.5 MPa, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) of real work rather than the full 56.5 N rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X50-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X50-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×50 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the extend stroke between 20 and 50 mm to eject small plastic caps or stamped pins from a mold nest, with the 30 mm window set once at commissioning.
The fitted -S magnet drives CMSE or DMSE switches to confirm grip on 3 kg-class electronic housings, with about 34 N of usable clamping force at 0.5 MPa.
The short ISO 21287 body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, actuates a go/no-go check fixture inside a tight QC station guard.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N; if the load is light, the same bore without the -30 window costs less. The male rod thread (B) suits knuckle and tooling attachments, while FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the -S magnet code if you need CMSE / DMSE position switches - without it there is no magnet. For new designs, specify the ACEJ12X50, the current-production replacement for this discontinued model, and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The -30 window lets a stop screw trim the 50 mm extend stroke down to 20 mm, and the fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends.
No - this model is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X50, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same 12 mm bore, 50 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP series was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ against your fixture before ordering. FA flange, LB foot and I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the ISO 21287 face.
