This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X50-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X50-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X50-30 is a double acting adjustable-stroke compact cylinder, now discontinued. Its 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N and 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 50 mm extend stroke down to as little as 20 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a 20-50 mm working range. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Practically, plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (roughly 0.6 of the rating), which lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small caps, sensors or light fixtures. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and an M3x0.5 female rod thread with M5x0.8 ports. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the current-production ACEJ12X50, which matches this bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X50-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X50-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×50 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 20-50 mm trimmed extend stroke with about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa nudges connectors, caps or stamped parts off a nest without over-travelling the part.
Order the -S version and CMSE / DMSE switches flag full extend inside guard doors; the 12 mm bore fits the 50 mm envelope beside the fixture.
Lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with margin - a dispensing nozzle, probe or light sample holder - within a body far shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push, 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa); if the load is under about 30 N, the same 12 mm bore in a fixed-stroke ACP may be simpler. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot hardware to the ISO 21287 face, and order the -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch positions. This model is discontinued; the drop-in successor is the ACEJ12X50.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread M3x0.5 female, rod 6 mm, and the -30 code allows the 50 mm stroke to be trimmed to 20 mm.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within the 30 mm window, giving a usable 20-50 mm range; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 50 mm and it does not hold a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
