The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-40SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-40SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X50-40SB is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 50 mm stroke that AirTAC has since discontinued. A stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the 40 mm window, so the working range runs from 10 mm to the full 50 mm. Air enters through M5x0.8 ports, the rod is 6 mm with a male thread (the B code), and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. Note that the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds or brakes a load.
Built on the short ISO 21287 body, it saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts around 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X50; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa clears finished clips or bushings off a mould face; the 10-50 mm adjustable range lets the setter dial the eject distance without changing cylinders.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE switch confirms the 6 mm rod has fully seated a connector or tray, catching misloads on SMT feeder benches at up to 500 mm/s.
Around 2.9 kg of vertical-lift margin holds thin circuit boards against a drill or test jig; the short ISO 21287 body fits inside the fixture frame where a longer cylinder will not.
Size both ways before ordering: at 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N, nearly double this 12 mm unit's 56.5 N, while stepping down is not possible because 12 mm is the smallest bore in the family. If your part weight stays under about 3 kg, the 12 mm bore with a 2:1 margin is the right call. The male rod thread (B) suits I/Y knuckles and FTC brackets on the ISO 21287 face; FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt straight on. The -S magnet is fitted here, so CMSE / DMSE switches work out of the box. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock it mid-travel. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X50 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.

It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X50, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class on the ISO 21287 body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was DIN-standard.
