This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X50-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X50-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X50-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X50-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X50-50B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, now discontinued and replaced by the ACEJ12X50. Air drives the rod in both directions, and the -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 50 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. The 6 mm rod ends in a MALE thread (the B code) and the air ports are M5x0.8. As a working rule, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa - roughly two thirds of the rating - which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the stop sets the end of travel only; on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load lock. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and the optional -S magnet (not fitted here) is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X50-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X50-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×50 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 34 N working force at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small connectors or snap-fit caps in electronics assembly, with the stop screw set to a repeatable 20 mm extend stroke.
The 0-50 mm trim range positions a small gate or shutter exactly, and the short body tucks behind guarding where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot reach.
About 2.9 kg of vertical lift capability with a 2:1 margin suits pushing sample vials or trays off a small benchtop station at 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure, or drop to a fixed-stroke ACP if no trimming is needed. The male rod thread suits direct attachment to tooling via I/Y knuckles, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant - this model has no magnet. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X50 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The port is M5x0.8, the rod is 6 mm with a male thread, and the extend stroke is trimmable by up to 50 mm via the external stop.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X50 (ISO 21287), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 50 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP series is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The replacement also uses the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches.
