This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X60-10B is a double acting compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 60 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 10 mm, giving a usable extend range of 50-60 mm. Air drives the rod out and pulls it back, a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and the 6 mm rod carries a male thread (the B code) with a PT air port of M5x0.8. Push force is 56.5 N and pull force is 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order item.
This model is discontinued and is no longer in production; the current drop-in successor is the ACEJ12X60, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACPJ follows the older DIN-standard footprint. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guards. For sizing, treat roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the 56.5 N push) as the realistic working force at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light plastic or stamped parts off a nest, and the 50-60 mm trim range lets you tune the eject position without shimming.
With about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the short body fits inside guard frames where a full-length body will not, and the male rod thread accepts a custom latch pin.
A 12 mm bore pressing caps or septa onto vials needs only a few tens of newtons; the 2.9 kg vertical-lift equivalent covers typical sample weights with margin, and the TPU bumper quiets the return.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest size in the family, delivering 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step up to the 16 mm bore if you need 100.5 N, since there is no smaller option. The B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread and the port is M5x0.8, so check your fitting stock before ordering. Because no S code is present, this unit has no magnet and cannot carry CMSE or DMSE switches; order an -S variant if position sensing is planned. FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. Note that the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load if air is lost. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X60 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes with 56.5 N and pulls with 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed range 30-500 mm/s, and the fluid must be air filtered to 40 um. Remember the 60 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
AirTAC has ended production of the ACPJ family. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACPJ follows a DIN-standard body rather than ISO 21287, verify the mounting hole pattern and overall length against the ACE drawing before you swap. The ACEJ also offers the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches if you need position feedback.
