This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X60-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 50-60 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order stroke built on request.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. As a practical sizing rule, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model carries the optional magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be mounted directly on the body. Note this model is discontinued: the current drop-in is ACEJ12X60, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the 50-60 mm trimmed extend position on a small electronics-assembly fixture, cycling at 30-500 mm/s.
About 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa seats small PCB connectors or crimps light terminals where a 16 mm bore would overshoot the force budget.
The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, ejects finished parts from a machining jig where space behind the fixture is minimal.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm bore, so step up if your load approaches 34 N of real demand. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the current ACEJ12X60 replacement instead.
Replacement checklist
Push 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, female rod thread M3x0.5, fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 60 mm stroke is a made-to-order size above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -10 code is a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke on site, so the effective range is 50-60 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACEJ12X60, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
