This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X60-10SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 50-60 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note the 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order stroke. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length cylinder will not fit. Because the S and B codes are ordered here, the -S magnet is fitted for CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches and the rod carries a male thread. Practical sizing: at 0.5 MPa plan on roughly 34 N of real work (about 60% of the push rating), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the piston; it never locks or holds a load, and on air loss the piston still drifts.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick a machined bushing or stamped clip off a nest, and the 10 mm window lets you trim the extend stroke to clear the part without repositioning the cylinder.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE or DMSE switch confirms the rod is fully retracted before a 12 mm-bore probe or sensor head advances into a PCB or connector test station.
About 34 N of usable clamping force at 0.5 MPa secures small housings or flex circuits during soldering or marking, and the short body fits inside dense fixture plates where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot.
Size both ways before committing: the next bore up, ACPJ16, gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the M5x0.8 port and M3x0.5 female-thread alternative. If you need to hold position under load, remember the -10 stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is not a mid-stroke lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X60 as the current drop-in and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 10 mm adjustment window on the 60 mm stroke, runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, M5x0.8 port, 6 mm male-thread rod, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 60 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production. Order the ACEJ12X60, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same 12 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and force class as the current ISO 21287 drop-in. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard. The ACEJ also carries the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches if you rely on position sensing.
