About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-20
The ACPJ12X60-20 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: air powers both the extend and return strokes, and the -20 stop screw trims the 60 mm extend stroke by up to 20 mm on site, giving a usable range of 40-60 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push. In practice plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60, same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length cylinder will not fit. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and a female M3x0.5 rod thread. Ports are M5x0.8, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and pressure spans 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note there is no magnet fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted; order the -S code for that. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ.

Size this bore for light clamping and small-part ejection: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits loads up to about 34 N in continuous duty. If you need more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; for lighter work the same family starts at 12 mm. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X60 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 footprint first.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 20 mm window; it shortens only, never lengthens past 60 mm, and it is a mechanical end stop rather than a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates at each end. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X60 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
