This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X60-30S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 30-60 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. Note the 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order stroke. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be fitted for end-of-stroke signalling.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with an M3x0.5 female thread. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to hold small brackets or PCB fixtures during a drilling or press operation, with the 30 mm window letting you dial the clamp point anywhere from 30 to 60 mm.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm rod position on a 60 mm eject stroke, feeding a PLC interlock on an assembly or inspection station.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside bench-top leak or go/no-go test rigs where the 30-60 mm adjustable range covers varied part heights.
Size this bore by load: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping and part present checks; if your jig needs more, the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost and it must never be relied on to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet works with CMSE / DMSE switches. Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X60 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 60 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 30 mm. The 60 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
An external stop screw mechanically limits the extend stroke within the ordered 30 mm window; it shortens the stroke only and never lengthens it past 60 mm, and it is not a load-holding brake - on air loss the piston still drifts. Both ends carry a fixed TPU bumper. The ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X60 (same bore, stroke and force class), so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows the older DIN-standard footprint.
