This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact cylinder is double acting: air extends and retracts the 6 mm rod, and a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the ordered 30 mm window, giving a usable 30-60 mm range. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 60 mm stroke is above the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACEJ12X60.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A practical sizing rule: plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.5 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, the fixed TPU bumper decelerates both ends, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches - this unit has no S code, so no magnet is fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to eject machined bushings or plastic caps from a drill jig, with the 30-60 mm trim letting you tune the eject travel per part.
A stopper or indexing paddle on a bottling conveyor fits the short body; order the -S magnet version with CMSE or DMSE switches to confirm the paddle is fully retracted.
About 3.5 kg of controlled vertical force suits pressing sensor caps or test coupons in an electronics lab fixture, where the 30 mm adjustment window dials in the press depth.
Choose this 12 mm bore when your jig needs under 60 N of thrust: at 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N. If the load is heavier, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push) in the same family. The -30 adjuster only shortens the extend stroke, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock - the rod still drifts if air is lost. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot hardware to your fixture, add the -S code if you need switch sensing, and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the replacement ACEJ12X60.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 60 mm extend stroke down to as little as 30 mm. The 60 mm stroke itself is non-standard for this bore (standard tops out at 50 mm), so it is made to order. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread is female M3x0.5, and the model is discontinued - the drop-in successor is ACEJ12X60.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 30 mm window; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 60 mm, and it acts only as an end stop - it will not hold a load if air pressure drops. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet, which allows CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches; without the -S code there is no magnet and no switching is possible. Before ordering the ACEJ12X60 replacement, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
