This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X60-50B runs a 12 mm bore over a 60 mm stroke and pushes 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N at 0.7 MPa). The -50 code sets a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere from 10 mm to the full 60 mm, so one cylinder covers several stroke settings. The 60 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so this unit is a non-standard, made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP follows the DIN-standard footprint.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (the B code), M5x0.8 ports and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. For planning, treat roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the 56.5 N push) as the usable working force at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting around 3 kg vertically with margin. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s across 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-60 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve several part heights on a compact test or assembly fixture, with the stop screw set per changeover.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa is enough to hold small plastic housings, PCBs or connector blocks during a short machining or marking cycle.
The short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot, moving light slides and gates at up to 500 mm/s inside compact guarding.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force step in the family: 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, below the 100.5 N of a 16 mm bore and far under the 157.1 N of a 20 mm bore. If your part weight or clamp force sits near those higher figures, step up a bore size instead of raising pressure. The male rod thread (B) suits knuckle and tooling attachments; FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. Note that the stop screw only limits the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. Order the ACEJ12X60 for current production.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The bore is 12 mm with a 6 mm male-thread rod, M5x0.8 ports, PT body ports, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s and a temperature range of -20 to +70 C. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is made to order.
The -50 code is a 50 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 10 mm and the full 60 mm, but it never extends the stroke past 60 mm and it does not hold a load if air is lost. A fixed TPU bumper at each end simply decelerates the piston. Position switches need the optional -S magnet code - this model has no S, so no magnet is fitted and no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. The discontinued ACPJ12X60-50B is replaced by the ACEJ12X60; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
